Environmental and Industrial Technologies

Nettrix Company has invested in environmental and industrial technologies. One of the most important technologies we have developed is a gasification process known as pyrolysis.

This process converts organic materials into valuable products such as biochar, bio-oil, and syngas, contributing to waste reduction and sustainable energy solutions.

What is Pyrolysis?

Pyrolysis is a thermal conversion process that transforms organic materials into useful solid, liquid and gaseous products.

Pyrolysis is the thermal decomposition of organic material, such as biomass, in the absence of oxygen. Biomass, which consists of plant or animal material used as fuel to produce electricity or heat, is primarily composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

In the absence of oxygen, the material does not combust but instead undergoes chemical decomposition. The major constituents of biomass—cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin—thermally decompose into a mixture of combustible gases and solid residues known as charcoal.

Thermal Decomposition

Organic materials are heated in a controlled oxygen-free environment rather than being burned.

Three Valuable Outputs

Pyrolysis can produce a combination of solid, liquid and gaseous products depending on process conditions.

01

Biochar

A stable carbon-rich solid material that can be used to improve soil fertility and support carbon sequestration.

Soil & Carbon Management
02

Bio-Oil

A liquid product generated from condensable pyrolysis vapors with potential applications in renewable fuels and chemical processing.

Renewable Fuel Potential
03

Syngas

A combustible gas mixture containing components such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and light hydrocarbons.

Energy Recovery

From Thermal Decomposition to Renewable Resources

The gaseous products of pyrolysis include permanent gases such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H₂), and light hydrocarbons such as methane (CH₄).

Many of the condensable gases and vapors can be converted into a liquid known as pyrolysis oil or bio-oil. This renewable product can be further processed to produce different chemicals and fuels.

Supporting Soil & Carbon Management

Pyrolysis also produces biochar, a form of charcoal that can be used to improve soil fertility and support carbon sequestration.

Depending on the feedstock and process conditions, biochar can provide a useful pathway for recovering carbon from organic materials while reducing the amount of waste requiring disposal.
